Key takeaways
- Four tools are built for negotiation practice; sales roleplay platforms cover it only partly
- NegotiateIt has the widest everyday scenario list and mobile apps; VirtualSpeech adds avatars and VR
- The free AI Negotiation Simulator on itch.io is the most configurable, but you bring your own API key
- Negosim's distinctive points are the counterpart's hidden briefing and a weighted 0-100 analysis; it is text-only with a small library
- Prices and features were checked on each vendor's own site on 08/10/2026 and will change
In this guide
Short answer: four tools are built specifically for practising negotiation against an AI in 2026: NegotiateIt, VirtualSpeech, the free AI Negotiation Simulator on itch.io, and Negosim. NegotiateIt has the broadest everyday library and mobile apps, VirtualSpeech adds avatars and VR for organisations, the itch.io simulator is free and fully configurable, and Negosim stands out with a counterpart that defends a hidden briefing and a weighted 0 to 100 analysis. The right choice depends on what you need to rehearse.
We publish Negosim, so this comparison has an obvious bias. To limit it, every fact below comes from each vendor's own website, read on 08/10/2026, and anything a vendor does not state is marked as such. Negosim's weaknesses are listed with the same care as the others'.
What to look for in an AI negotiation simulator
- A counterpart with something to defend. If the AI only reacts to you, it will agree too easily; it needs its own limits and alternatives
- Feedback on your moves, not only on your tone. Concessions, anchors, questions asked and the moment you crossed your limit are what change outcomes
- Scenarios close to your real situation. A salary rehearsal helps a salary talk more than a generic exercise
- Repetition at a low cost. The skill comes from replaying, so the free tier and the price per session matter
- The language of the real meeting. Rehearsing in the language you will negotiate in removes one source of hesitation

NegotiateIt
NegotiateIt is a web and mobile app for rehearsing negotiations against AI opponents. Its library leans toward personal and career situations: salary (with US and Indian versions), first job offers, severance, promotions, retaining an employee, rent, refunds and market haggling. You can also describe your own upcoming negotiation and the app builds a scenario with a named opponent and your goals. After each session, a debrief grades your technique, and daily drills target single techniques such as anchoring and labeling.
Strong points: the broadest everyday library of the four, native mobile apps, custom scenarios on the free plan, short daily drills. Watch out for: the page does not state the languages supported or whether practice is by voice or text; the Pro price is labelled as launch pricing.
VirtualSpeech
VirtualSpeech is a soft-skills platform whose business negotiation section offers roleplays with AI-powered avatars, in a web browser or in VR with a headset. Listed scenarios include negotiating contract terms, a pay rise, a partnership, a trade union and director pair, and "Getting to a Yes". Feedback comes from an AI coach with tips per roleplay, and the method is presented as based on the Harvard Method. Custom roleplays can be built in Roleplay Studio.
Strong points: avatars and VR, a recognised training brand for organisations, custom scenarios. Watch out for: no numeric score mentioned on the negotiation page, no free plan stated for individuals, and the individual price (45 USD a month or 399 USD a year) is the highest of the four.
AI Negotiation Simulator (itch.io)
A free, browser-based simulator published on itch.io by an independent developer. You set your role, your goal and your BATNA, the counterpart's hidden constraints and its personality (competitive, collaborative, accommodating, avoiding or analytical), starting from over 50 templates. Each reply is scored on assertiveness, empathy and value creation, with radar charts at the end. It runs on Google Gemini or Mistral models with your own API key; a scripted offline mode works without one.
Strong points: free, the most configurable of the four, honest about how it works. Watch out for: you need your own API key for the full experience, the project is listed as in development, and its last update on the page dates from June 2025.
Negosim
Negosim is our product: a web-based simulator where you negotiate by chat with an AI counterpart that has its own briefing, with limits and alternatives you do not see. After the session, the transcript is read against both briefings and you get a score from 0 to 100 across six weighted skills, a separate objective achievement rate, your critical mistake and a plan to replay the scenario. The method is described in full on the methodology page. The counterpart negotiates in five languages.
Strong points: the hidden briefing on the other side, which is what makes the negotiation feel real; the most detailed written analysis of the four; five languages; 10 free sessions without a card; a public leaderboard per scenario. Watch out for: text only, no voice or avatars; the library is small (six scenarios at the time of writing); custom scenarios are only part of the team offer; no mobile app.
Sales roleplay platforms: a different job
Several well-known AI roleplay platforms come up in searches for negotiation practice. Hyperbound offers a free tier with 45 prebuilt sales roleplays and example scorecards, with paid plans on demo. Yoodli's individual plans start with five lifetime sessions, then 8 or 20 USD a month billed annually. On 08/10/2026 neither pricing page listed a dedicated negotiation module: they are built for sales calls, objections and communication practice. They are a good fit for reps working on discovery and objection handling, and a weaker one for a multi-issue negotiation with a reservation price to protect.
How to choose
- You have a salary or rent conversation next week: NegotiateIt or Negosim, both with free options
- You want avatars, VR or a company-wide programme: VirtualSpeech
- You want to configure everything and do not mind an API key: the itch.io simulator
- You want to see exactly where you conceded and what the other side really had: Negosim
- Your team needs sales call practice more than negotiation: a sales roleplay platform
Whichever you pick, the method matters more than the tool: prepare a limit, rehearse against something that pushes back, review the transcript and replay. Our guide on how to practise negotiation alone describes that routine, and what an AI negotiation simulator is explains what these tools can and cannot do.
