Salary negotiation, senior developer

Exchange 3 of 30

Hiring manager

We can offer $95,000 for this senior role. That is competitive for the market. What are your thoughts?

You

Before I answer: how was the range for this role set? With 8 years on similar platforms, I was expecting closer to $120,000.

Hiring manager

That is above our range. Would you consider $105,000 with a signing bonus?

Every session ends with a scored analysis

The whole conversation is read against your briefing. You see where you gained ground, where you gave it away, and what to change next time.

Critical mistake

At exchange 2 you dropped from $120,000 to $110,000 before they gave a single reason. That one move set the ceiling for the rest of the talk.

Replay plan

  1. 1.Ask how the range was set before giving any number.
  2. 2.Hold $118,500 for two exchanges, then trade, never concede.
  3. 3.Swap part of the gap for a review at six months.

The six skills, their weights and the eight parts of the report are described on how Negosim scores a negotiation.

The other side has a briefing too

Each scenario gives the AI its own budget, deadline and alternatives. It defends them, it can say no, and you only learn what it knew once the session is over.

How a session works

Three steps, ten to twenty minutes.

  1. 1

    Read your briefing

Pick a scenario. You get your role, your target and your walk-away point. The other side has a briefing too, and you will not see it.

  2. 2

    Negotiate by chat

The AI answers in seconds, in English, French, Spanish, German or Polish, and defends its own limits. A session stops at 30 exchanges or 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Read the analysis

A score out of 100 across six skills, the moment that cost you the most, and a plan to replay the same scenario better.

Frequently asked questions

Plans, scoring, languages and session length. Anything else: the support page in your account.

What is Negosim?

Negosim is a web-based negotiation simulator. You choose a scenario (a salary discussion, a sales contract, a fundraising round, a real estate purchase, a freelance rate), negotiate by chat with an AI counterpart, and receive a score from 0 to 100 plus a written analysis of the session. It is built by Kern IT in Brussels.

Is Negosim free?

Yes, to start. The free plan includes 10 sessions for life with no credit card. Paid plans, verified on 13/09/2026, are Negotiator at 12 euros per month for 30 sessions and Master at 29 euros per month for 100 sessions. One session costs one credit.

How is my negotiation scored?

At the end of a session the whole transcript is analysed against the scenario briefing. You get a score from 0 to 100 and a written report covering strategy, communication, concessions and whether you reached your objectives. Scores are comparable between players on the public leaderboard.

How long does a session last?

A session is capped at 30 exchanges or 30 minutes, whichever comes first. Most sessions take 10 to 20 minutes. You can also end a session early and still get your analysis.

Which languages can I negotiate in?

The AI counterpart negotiates in English, French, Spanish, German and Polish. You pick the language when you start a scenario; the scenario briefing is translated as well.
